I’m so tired
my eyes are bloodshot red
I’ve been around some
I have discovered
The dream ain’t what it seems
But this reality
Is nearly dead
I’ve gotta leave
I’m gonna leave you now
Can’t stay up in Alaska
Take me down south of Mount Shasta
Going to California in the morn
I’ve had enough of rugged edges of the world
Where there’s too many guys and not enough girls
The middle of nowhere
Gives a guy a distant stare
But i love you more than anyone i know
I do not know anyone at all
Well i awoke
In the back of a station wagon
Whittier, Alaska
In the pouring rain
Outside a bar called the Anchor Inn
There was a fight
I heard your love affair dissolve
Problem solved
With a broken fist
Bloody nose and a busted lip
You broke your hand
You hit the wall when he ducked your punch
Heard he’s waiting at your cabin with a gun
Now there’s no sound
Just the Prince William Sound
And he don’t say a thing
It’s almost summer
It rains and snows and rains again
If i return
Just to find out i’m dead to you
Could my ghost climb in bed with you
I’ll possess your boyfriend’s body
Then you’ll be making love to me
But you love him more than anyone you know
But you don’t know anyone at all
“So do your dreams fuel the fire of your illusion?”
Heart and mind are in collusion
Asleep you’re not alive
If you dream, can you still survive?
Do you feel that your life is consuming you?
The illusion’s ruining you
Your love is a fallacy
So what on earth could set you free?
I love you more than anyone i know
But i don’t know anyone at all
You love him more than anyone you know
But you don’t know anyone at all

Just saw them performing much of this album on their west coast tour. San Diego and Pioneertown dates. Didn’t know any of them lol. I’m all about their old shit but I like this. Playing it more and more. Appreciate the evolution of one of my favorite bands in the world since middle school! 🖤 Red

Title track was the first I'd ever heard of Jeff's work and it struck me like a ten-ton hammer.
Was a perfect fit for the small-town college I was attending at the time, not far from train tracks itself.
Every time I hear this, I can see the amber light of the street lamps and think about a few walks I made around campus in the dead of night.
Still haven't grabbed hold of the life I've been given as firmly as I ought to, but this song soothes my regret...and the chorus reminds me.... moonandstar8765
